Tree Inspection

Owning trees carries a number of legal responsibilities and duties. These duties of care, although not overly onerous, if not properly discharged may result in harm to persons, damage to property and leave the owner open to legal action. Negligence, on the part of the tree owner, or person responsible for the trees, may result in the loss of insurance cover or protection.

The National Tree Safety Group has published guidance for landowners  - Common sense risk management of trees.

In law and in reality, proportionate and reasonable care and action to prevent foreseeable harm or damage, by the landowner, is all that is required.

Tree Condition Surveys assess the health and condition of the trees, providing recommendations for management based on their structural and physiological condition. Tree Risk Surveys use the data from the site assessment to provide a report with consideration of the site usage and the potential for harm if a tree should fail.

The initial tree assessment is normally carried out from ground level, with measuring tools and aids for the investigation of any basal or stem defects present. Inspections are undertaken in accordance with industry best practice to provide an informative written report, complete with digital maps, backed by expertise, experience and insurance.
